I’ve been dealing with underarms issue: they smell (well, whose don’t?). And they’re really dependent—with that said, I always had to spread something on them, be it fragranced powder or deodorant.
When I was much younger, I constantly provided myself packs and packs of this not-commonly-sold fragranced powder made specially to get rid of underarm odor. Growing up as an older young adult, I felt that said powder was just so not modern, so I changed to a branded (and imported) roll-on deodorant. Without anything on my underarms, I simply smell horrible.
Being more eco-conscious now for the past a year or so, I knew that the aluminum contained in most deodorant (including the one I used) was basically dangerous to my body, sooner or later, not to mention that the after-use sticks contribute piles of trash (we’re not yet familiar with recycling—or even living green in general!—here in the city I live). But the fact that my underarms being too dependent could not be ignored easily as well.
Yet a while ago, collecting my courage, I used the evidence of my deodorant being used up as an excuse to stop using it once and for all. For the first one month, my underarms simply smelled even though I’ve sprayed a big amount of cologne on them. And now? They no longer smell too strong (just like a miracle!). Maybe the one month period of smelling bad was their way to adapt, I still can’t comprehend why. I just know that leaving deodorant is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, ever.
Well, the cologne I’m using still contains mysterious fragrance as one of its components, but at least it’s a local product—an excuse, I know. But a good start for me

I would like to think I was brave enough to try this, but not sure that I am ready for it yet. But great post.

Hi! First of all, thanks for Green Girls Global for having my post published here
It was ‘only’ about deodorant, but it took a hard time for me to come to a steady decision–not to mention that I am getting married; what if this odor problem gets in the way? But thank God my husband-to-be is a wise one
