“This is the true story of seven strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped. See what happens when people stop wasting and start living green.” I made this up, but you get the idea!
MTV will be doing a green season with their very popular show The Real World, set to be filmed in Hollywood airing in 2008. They plan on incorporating as many sustainable ideas into a green house: bamboo floors, solar heated pool, sustainable and vintage furniture, recycled glass countertops, energy efficient lighting and energy star rated appliances.
This ought to be fun, as the house is usually some over-the-top decorated space. I can’t wait to see what the design team does! I never thought of “Hollywood” and “sustainable” as synonymous but apparently they do:
“Coming back to Los Angeles after 14 years, where else but Hollywood could MTV have brought ‘The Real World?” said Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, whose 13th district includes the production’s location. “The combination of reality-TV excitement with strong ecological practices is a natural fit for Hollywood, the world’s capital of entertainment and the place to look for the future of building a sustainable city.”
I just hope they don’t fill the house with all environmentalists, that could actually be quite boring. They need to mix it up with the believers and the non-believers, that way you can educate and entertain at the same time!
Nonetheless I do look forward to The Real World: Sustainable Hollywood!
