Multi-award winning, new Eco-Business, Bag It Don’t Bin It is hosting Sheffield’s first Eco Business Summit on Friday 29th February 2008.

Up to fifty, local business leaders together with representation from the city’s political parties and media have been invited to attend the event.

The aim of the Eco-Business Summit is to create a dynamic, focused opportunity for the city’s corporate leaders and politicians to brainstorm eco-friendly business ideas, work practices and policies.

Organiser Julia Gash says, “In recognition of the catastrophic effect of the cause and effect of global warming, there is a drive within the corporate world, political arena and public domain for the reduction of waste and carbon emissions, bringing with it endless, new, economic opportunities for business.

It is hoped that ideas generated and shared over the two hour working lunch, will be put into practice by those attending and inform their current business practices as well as instigating new initiatives. Businesses could discover a new, eco-friendly and economic way to run their operations, develop new environmentally friendly products or even find that they have a new eco-enterprise under their nose! ”

Local politicians will chair a table of ten business leaders, and will present their group’s ideas to the floor at the end of the event. Liberal Democrat Party Leader, Nick Clegg MP, will open the event.

An Eco-Business Summit delegate pack will be prepared before and after the event and will include those ideas that have been put forward

The event will take place at Pizza Express, 1st Floor, Devonshire Quarter, Sheffield, between 12 - 2pm, on Friday 29th February 2008.

Delegates will be provided with a pizza lunch with accompanying wine/soft drink. A charge of £15 will cover the cost of the lunch and eco-goodybag/delegate pack.

Julia adds: “We’ve been given an extra day this year. I think it would be a good use of that time if we could set aside some part of the day to finding ways in which we could make changes to our lives and businesses that could have a positive impact on climatic change.
