Soil Association’s Organic Food Festival This Weekend

Tags: , ,

Bristol Harbour sees the return of the Soil Association’s Organic Food Festival this weekend, 6th & 7th September.

And it’s about much more than just food!

Organic Food FestivalIt’s Europe’s largest celebration of all things organic and kicks off this year’s Organic Fortnight.

The festival is in its eigth year and this time there will be over 300 exhibitors, showcasing everything from organic cheeses and wines to eco-friendly cosmetics, clothes and homewares.

As usual, there will be the Demonstration Kitchen, where you can see your favourite celebs in action, plus so many chances to sample simply delicious organic food.

Helen Taylor, Soil Association development director said:

Every year the Soil Association Organic Food Festival just gets bigger and better. There’s something here for everyone whether you’re looking for help growing your own veg, a chance to try out a new organic beauty product, or just looking for something tasty for dinner.

And this year’s festival will be even greener than before. In addition to all the usual recycling facilities, the festival’s generators are going to be powered by sustainably sourced biofuel!

So if you’ve got a chance to be in the Bristol area this weekend, how about joining in the fun? Entry is just £4 on the gate – and the Soil Association will refund your ticket if you join as a member on the day!

See you there.

How To Be A Greener Consumer – Live Call On Sunday at 2pm

Tags: ,

Whether you’re a die-hard green consumer or just dipping your toe in the water the check the temperature, we’ve got a treat for you on Sunday.

Ever wanted to figure out whether muddy carrots are worth the bother?
Can a natural deodorant survive a salsa class?
Will clothes swapping ever beat clothes shopping?

Two years ago, shopaholic and supermarket addict Kate Lock set herself a series of ‘eco-challenges’, from kicking her Tesco habit to composting her kitchen waste.

And her new book, “Confessions Of An Eco-Shopper” combines the practical with the inspirational. It’s packed with great tips, Kate’s honest and humourous account of her triumphs and failures is not only a green guide to the weekly shop but an attempt to balance sustainable living with domestic harmony.

On Sunday 7th September at 2pm, you get a chance to find out more about being a greener consumer.

Kate Lock and Clare Josa, founder of Veg Box Recipes, are co-hosting a free, live call on the topic.

It’s going to be a fascinating chance to find out all about Kate’s experiences in “green living, for the rest of us” and to catch up with the latest and bestest from Clare’s visit to this year’s Organic Food Festival in Bristol.

Given all the talk about the credit crunch, Kate has pulled together her top tips for saving money on whatever you’re buying, whilst doing your bit for the planet and its inhabitants.

She’ll be tackling, head on, the mis-belief that eco-shopping has to be more expensive!

Clare will be taking you on a whistle-stop tour of the best bits from the Soil Association’s Organic Food Festival that I’m off to on Saturday. She’ll be doing interviews with loads of the businesses there, so can bring you, hot off the press, the latest eco shopping news.

And remember: it’s a live call, so you get to ask your burning questions, too!

So whether you’d like to:

  • call in live
  • listen live online in the webcast
  • or make sure you get the link to download and listen after the event

register now to reserve your place.

And you’ll also be entered into a draw to win a copy of Kate’s Book!

We look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks,
Clare
