Raise Money & Recycle

Posted on 20 December 2006

This is not usually the sort of thing that I would post on GGG but I really feel its worthwhile and it does have a green angle too. When I’m not working for Make Hay or posting on GGG I wear another hat at a Family Welfare Association voluntary project in Nottingham called Volunteers for Parents’ Voices.

Raise Money & RecycleFWA Volunteers for Parents’ Voices is supporting one of our service users to raise funds for the Group B Strep Meningitis Support Group. The support group raise awareness about meningitis and signs of infection in babies and children – early diagnosis is essential with this illness and it is still sadly sometimes caught too late.

You can help the Group B Strep Meningitis Support Group to raise money by donating your old mobile phone for the parts to be recycled (the phone doesn’t have to work!). If you live in Nottingham (UK), please bring in your old mobile phone to the Nottingham Voluntary Action Centre, 7 Mansfield Road, Nottingham, NG1 3FB or contact FWA Volunteers for Parents’ Voices on 0115 9348476.

Thank you for your support.

FWA Volunteers for Parents’ Voices supports parents and carers of disabled children and children with special needs in Nottingham City, when they are in contact with different services, working to get their child’s needs met.  If you would like to know more about the support we offer, or are interested in volunteering to support parents and carers, please contact us at nottinghamvpv@fwa.org.uk

I am living in Toronto, Canada and would like to know what do you do with old phones and how do you help people with it. I can ask who has the old phone and put it in a box and send them to you. thanks.

    Hi Maryam

Thank you for your comment. There are lots of charities who recycle mobile phones to raise money. One way to find out is by putting a search like ‘recycle mobile phones charity Canada’ into a search engine and that should bring up lots of results.

I quickly did this search and found this website for example http://www.charitablerecycling.ca .

    Hope this helps!
