From Rain Forests to Runways by Beth Doane

Posted on 20 April 2009

Rain TeesUSA based designer and environmental entrepreneur, Beth Doane combined her passion for fashion and rain forest conservation to create the Andira Rain Tee collection. Rain Tees is the first and only apparel line to use the artwork of children in endangered rain forests to make a statement about our planet, to create green jobs in the Amazon and to give children trees to plant all with one simple apparel purchase.

I created the 100% organic collection by donating school supplies to children in Central and South America and asking them to draw what they see happening around them. Each Rain Tee features the children’s thoughts and illustrations and is handmade in Peru at fair trade factories.

Rain Tees launched on the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and has quickly become one of the hottest new eco-casual brands in the USA.

The line includes collections of tees for women and children and prices range from $34-$38 USD. For each tee sold, Kids Saving the Rainforest participants in Costa Rica receive a tree to plant in an area threatened by deforestation. Rain Tees are available at www.thegreenloop.com and will soon be available for purchase within the UK.

I’m trying to reach Beth Doane to verify some facts in an article she wrote an animal trafficking. My website is dedicated to both animal and human trafficking and I left out the specific numbers of animals trafficked because I can’t find reputable sources to verify my numbers. Please have her email me at betsy@livehonestly.com. Thanks!

    Hello Betsy,
I just sent you an email and would be happy to verify those facts for you and share my sources. I love your site and we seem to share many of the same passions. Looking forward to being in touch.
    All the best,
    Beth Doane
