Organic Food Fair

Posted on 13 November 2006

My last post for City Hippy was about the Soil Association Scotland Organic Food Fair held in Glasgow the other week and I just wanted to tell you all what a fabulous event it was. It was the first time the Soil Association had held one of their fairs outside Bristol and going by the success of the Glasgow one, here’s to many more throughout the country.

I lost count of all the delicious food we tried: soup, yoghurt, breads, dips, more soup, chocolate… My boyfriend also tried some of the meat products available and proclaimed them delicious. We knew some of the producers already from our weekly visits to the farmers market in Edinburgh but learned about loads more. We’re already planning visits out to Jamesfield Organics and “>Pillars of Hercules up in Fife.

It wasn’t just about food, Ecover, Green People and Seasalt were also there and I took advantage of special show prices to buy a lovely top from Seasalt (I love the way each item of clothing comes with a small packet of organic cotton seeds).

Definitely worth the train fair from Edinburgh!

Thanks for that article, i have made the switch to organic food almost 6 months ago and I have never looked back, while the price may be a little more expensive I found that you can do little things like growing your own veggie patch and buying organic food in bulk to save your money (http://www.oway.com.au). I find that I am a lot happier and I just feel great knowing that I am taking care of my family and helping the planet.
