Green homes in Sheffield

Posted on 19 April 2007

No, I haven’t moved from Sheffield but I was a student there and stayed on to work for a couple of years afterwards.  I saw in Hippy Shopper this week that 47 eco-homes are being constructed in the Norfolk Park area.  Residents will have great access to the tram system and spectacular views across the city.  You can read more at The Environment Trust website.

Sheffield’s a great place to build this kind of development, the city has come a long way in the past ten years and is a really vibrant, interesting place.  I can imagine there being a lot of interest, there’s a lot of interest in green and ‘alternative’ (whatever that is) lifestyles.  Having a little search on the net to see what’s going on there brought me to the Sheffield Green Food Map to help you find good food.  You can join in with Green Drinks every month and there is a movement to green the city’s rooftops.

I really must make the effort to visit next time I’m south, with two cousins and one sister resident there, with another shortly to make her way there and another living nearby, there’s no excuse!

Maybe they should add those eco-homes to http://www.listedgreen.com

What a brilliant idea for a site, hopefully there will be more UK entries soon.
