Name: Kate

Where I live: Leafy Leamington Spa, UK

What I do: I am the founder of GreenFinder which is a green-pages style website and showcase stall. GreenFinder’s role is to educate people about the wide range of green and eco products and services available to them. The GreenFinder showcase stall which I take around the U.K to green events and exhibitions acts as information point for the public on all things green. I’m usually inundated with eco questions, queries and quandaries from the public on subjects as diverse as recycling lightbulbs, organic raincoats and sustainable luggage tags.

I also organise green events in my home town and I havejust set up a green and ethical business network for people in the Midlands area.

What I’ll be talking about on GGG: All sorts of things which are green and good. I will be keeping you up to date with events in the midlands and encouraging people to be resourceful with things so they can free themselves from our consumerist society and our buy, buy, buy philosophy. I am also interested in community and council projects which benefit the environment and will be talking about some fantastic schemes which exist.

What inspires me: People who try to make the world a better place, whether they work to help people, the planet or animals in their daily life.

Who I look up to and respect: People who are strong in their convictions and want to change the world for the better in some way. People who seek to make a difference however big or small.

What I want for the future: Less supermarkets, packaging and carrier bags, less cars on the roads and aeroplanes in the sky and less greedy and selfish people. On a more positive note I would love to see more independent and second hand shops, a tax on carrier bags and roads which are safe to cycle on and pleasant to walk alongside. I would love people to downshift so they have a better quality of life and enjoy the simple things in life rather than trying to keep up with the Jones’.

One last thing: As my interests lie in creative/resourceful recycling I’d love to hear your ideas on the subject. Also if you know of any local green schemes or projects in your area I’d love to hear about them too.
