Name: Arcadia Maximo

Where I live: San Francisco, California – USA

What I do: I’m a general contractor who builds green. We do all kinds of remodeling work from kitchens and baths to additions and new construction. I’m the only owned and operated female contractor in my city!

What I’ll be talking about on GGG: I want to keep our California readers apprised of all the cool things happening locally as well as a few things on a national level that I feel could be beneficial to all. San Francisco has just embarked on a project to become “The Greenest City in the Nation”. I was very lucky to be asked to be a part of this website project, and I have to say SF is off to a great star; although we don’t view this as a competition with other cities around the country; more as a way to inspire those to follow our lead.

What inspires me: Everyone around me, including you reading this!

Who I look up to and respect: My biggest hero has to be Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He proved one person can make a difference.

What I want for the future:
I want people to stop looking at the “green lifestyle” as an alternative choice, I want it to become the norm, because green isn’t an alternative way of doing things, it’s a better way.

One last thing: My favorite quote: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” –Buckminster Fuller
