Eco-Sins

Posted on 27 March 2008

Earlier this month Pope Benedict XVI declared pollution a sin.  I laughed and clapped, but it got me thinking about eco-sins I commit fully knowing that what I am doing is bad yet refusing to give up.

sinners.jpgWhat eco-sins do you commit?

I’ll go first.  I refuse to give up my long hot showers.  I take one every morning without guilt.  I also loathe public transportation.  I take it on days when I have to, not because I want to.

:D :D I was going to start this exact same thread on my blog, but I’ll just join in with you.

Forgive me, Arcadia, for I have two sins:

1- I use a LOT of paper kitchen towel.
    2- I have a 4×4

Two hail marys and a drink from the holy fountain for me, then…….

    Hi Arcadia,

    My main eco sins are:

1- Whilst every day I have a short shower, on a Sunday night I treat myself to a soak in the bath and dont recycle the water!

2- Instead of cycling I catch the bus, but honestly I will start cycling again.

I will probably think of more soon

    Hi Arcadia

Thank you for sharing your sins, mine are:

1 – I don’t use eco cleaning products as much as I should. I just don’t find them as good so alternate them with conventional ones

2 – I have a dishwahser (disclaimer: its only a small one though and I don’t use it every day)

    Phew, that’s better! :)

    Hi Arcadia, and everyone,

It looks like we’re all game to clean our tarnished eco-souls this spring. We (Together.com) just launched a fun little Green Confessional, that gives you a change both to confess *and* to get a little eco-penance.

Come visit Fr. Dan Power, tell him your eco-sins and get tips from him on how to clean up your act. UK residents have the chance to win a green prize, like a solar backpack, a Wattson, or a Brompton bike. So come confess to our green guru… Give him a little tickle while you’re there too – your sins make him frown but the tickle makes him giggle!

    Hope you like it!
