I have decided to take small steps to make my work green. So far there isn’t any sustainability or green consultants in Denmark – but I think they will come eventually.
anyway – my actions for my workday future will be :
- when travelling to conferences I will try and see if I can book through Ecobooker.
- I will preach these tips to my coworkers.
- and tell them to get inspiration from Ecoshopper.net, (where I also found the ecobooker link)…
I am sure that most of the obstacles there is to making your workday green – is that people don’t know where to look for green information and they don’t know the alternatives.. Hence – here’s some of them =)

Hey Henriette
Thank you for sharing, I actually had a draft post to write about greening up your business so great minds think alike eh?
With our business we already had quite a few things (in terms of green working practices) in place but we were lucky enough to have an organisation called the Best Network to help us formalise our environmental policy and think up even more ways to be green.
Unfortunatly the Best Network has run out of funding and will be closing at the end of December. How can this make any sense at a time when businesses really need this kind of support and guidance?
Anyway, what they did do what help us realise that there are endless ways to do that little bit more.

Ah. And I, as well. Am currently working on continuing to set up the office here in Honolulu, and sustainable, green buying options are pretty thin on the islands.
As someone working in the environmental field for the better part of the last ten years, I’ve thought a lot about how working enviros can decrease the footprint of their own work. I tried to initiate a “zero waste” meeting policy at my last office–it wasn’t wholly successful, but it DID result in the end in exchanging styrofoam coffee cups for ceramic, and the use of real silverware!

Henriette – it’s great that you are going to green your work place. At my work place ‘Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’we have an environmental office policy.
- We think before we print
- We only use recycled stationary
- We print on both sides of the paper when possible
- We re-use one sided junk mail to print internal documents
- We recycle all paper waste
- We also recyle all other waste including tea bags and fruit / veg peelings with a compost bin in our gadren outside the office
- We use a green energy company
- We are careful with heating
- We use mugs and glasses rather than plastic throw away cups
- We use tap water rather than bottled or cooler water
- We use Ecover cleaning products
In fact we do try very hard – however I bet that we could still become greener.
Does anyone have any other work place green tips?
