The event is part of the Rainforest Foundation UK’s Hot & Bothered campaign aimed at getting everyone who is bothered about climate change to stand up and make a difference. All profits go to the campaign.

Following in the footsteps of the suffragettes and remembering their bravery and determination of a hundred years ago, women and men will be gathering at Parliament on 13th October to demand a better future.

So, if you want the government to…

• stop airport expansion
• stop the build of new coal-fire power stations
• create policies in line with recent climate science

…go to Parliament and tell them!

As part of the Inspiration Sessions (at 12:30pm on Friday and 10:30am on Saturday & Sunday), Jen Marsden, author of the ‘Green Guide for Weddings’, and I will be helping couples in their search for the perfect bridal and reception flowers with advice on everything from ‘befriending your florist’ and sourcing seasonal, local or fair trade flowers to latest trends and sticking to a budget.

We’ll also be taking questions on wedding flower worries as well as more general ethical wedding issues. It will be interesting to see what questions we get!

Fair trade and seasonal wedding flower arrangements will be decorating the stage courtesy of the lovely Imogen Stone.

If you don’t catch us at Earls Court, we’ll be inspiring more couples at the National Wedding Show at the NEC in Birmingham from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th October.

If you are going though be sure to check out estethica, the green fashion exhibition now in its fifth season.

It’s really amazing to learn how popular this part of the event has become in such a massive mainstream show. There are over 30 green fashion labels exhibiting this year and the British Fashion Council are happy to report even more labels joining in 2009.

London Fashion Week are also collaborating with the BBC’s Thread in their Stylesearch competion to find the UK’s most ethical dressers. The four finalists will be taking part in a task to find the ultimate winner who will assist the stylist at the Thread fashion show - lucky thing!

Check out the competition entries on the Thread website and you might see a familiar face!

The Grand Designs LIVE event in Birmingham (UK) this year will be featuring several seminars focusing on environmentally friendly building and design.

Running from 10th to 12th October these seminars will include talks on reducing the negative environmental impact on self-builds, the eco credentials of prefabricated houses and furnishing your home with eco interiors.

In fact friend of Green Girls Global and Treehugger editor Leonora Oppenheim will be speaking in the ‘Best Eco Footprint Forward’ debate.

The Big Debate Birmingham

Another eco event in Birmingham this Autumn is The Big Debate organised by Birmingham City University.

The debate on 15th September ‘Young leaders or green saviours?‘ considers the issues faced by up and coming managers in implementing green strategies in the workplace.

Eco queen and Nottingham lovely lady Penney Poyzer will be MC-ing at the opening night on 4th september (6pm - 9pm). That’s not all - there will be an exciting eco fashion show and stalls from local green and Fairtrade companies too.

From 3rd to 13th September the View from the Top gallery will also be exhibiting works from green artists, designers and makers. If you’d like to showcase your work, the deadline is 30th August so hurry!
