Local Food Champions Sought

Posted on 29 May 2007

Last spring in a lovely old country pub my partner and I were enjoying a scrummy meal in which most of the ingredients were locally sourced. I made the comment that it was a shame there wasn’t a local directory of some kind that listed pubs and restaurants that served local food. That chance comment [...]

A fantastic find in Glasgow

Posted on 27 May 2007

The other week I was at a conference in Glasgow and took the opportunity to go and visit Entrading, a new green/eco/ethical/fairtrade/organic/generally very nice shop.  I had read about it the week before, so I had to go!
What a fabulous place, it’s not massive but packs in a lot of great products - and a [...]

Veg Patch Diaries #2

Posted on 21 May 2007

After a whole week of pouring rain here in Nottingham (and most of the UK I think) it finally stopped on Sunday so I could finish the work I’d started on the veg patch 7 days ago.
If you’re wondering what I’m rambling on about see the Veg Patch Diaries #1 post.
The poor little plants that [...]

National Vegetarian Week

Posted on 18 May 2007

National Vegetarian Week begins on Monday 21st May in the UK and I was wondering how you’re planning to celebrate.
I stopped eating meat when I was 12 years old. At that time my reason for doing this was quite simple, I found out about intensive farming. I was so horrified by the way that many animals [...]

Thought and (action) for the day - Green Energy Providers

Posted on 15 May 2007

We’ve been using Ecotricity as our green electricity provider for a [...]

Veg Patch Diaries #1

Posted on 13 May 2007

This year I thought it was about time I had a go at growing my own veg. Having never done this before I thought I’d share my experience here on GGG, for a few reasons. The first reason being that hopefully it will encourage others who, like me, have thought about doing this before but [...]

Breathing Places Christmas Song

Find out what the UK wildlife want from Santa this Christmas.

Breathing Places is an important project about getting involved in conservation and protecting wildlife in the UK. I’m not sure that these animals are 100% anatomically correct though….
